VODCAST
PRODUCTION

This training is tailored for young women journalists, students, and recent graduates with a strong interest in women’s rights, human rights, and climate change, aiming to support their professional integration into the media sector through technical and editorial skills in digital media and communication for development.

OBJECTIVES​

To equip young women  with the technical, editorial, and strategic skills to produce impactful vodcasts and communication content on women’s rights, human rights, and climate change, and to facilitate their entry into the media and communication sectors.

What you will learn

  • Fundamentals of audio production

  • Vodcast post-production and publishing

  • Storytelling and scriptwriting for development

  • Interviewing skills and vodcast hosting

  • Setting up and operating a mobile vodcast studio

  • Designing communication strategies for social change

  • Portfolio development and editorial planning

  • Coverage of environmental and climate change topics

  • Organisation of a live vodcast event.

Requirements

  • Be a young woman

  • Be a freelance journalist, a Master’s student, or a recent graduate in journalism, communication, media, social sciences, or IT

  • Have an interest in women’s rights, climate justice, and civic engagement

  • Have basic skills in audio/video production

  • Have strong writing skills in Arabic and/or Kurdish and a good command of English

  • Be available full-time for the entire program

  • Be motivated, creative, and committed to use media as a tool for social transformation.

Format

  • 2 months of training

  • Hybrid training online & onsite

  • Coaching and mentorship

  • Free access to AHJ’s vodcast equipment and facilities

  • Each participant will produce one vodcast, published on AHJ platforms

  • The training is free of charge.

  • Travel and accommodation expenses will be covered.

SUPPORT AND BENEFITS

 

The training will offer you practical experience in vodcast creation, personalised mentorship from experienced women journalists and audio producers, and increased your visibility through the publication of your work on the VFSF  platforms.

You will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the training.

You will also be integrated into the Voix des Femmes Sans Frontières VFSF - Women Voices Without Borders network, connecting over 350 women journalists, artists, activists and experts across 11 MENA countries

PRESENTATION OF THE TRAINERS

 

The trainers are members of our teams and former laureates of the Voix des Femmes Sans Frontières VFSF - Women Voices Without Borders initiative. Having once been in the place of today’s participants, they represent the virtuous circle of skills and experience transfer that defines AHJ’s approach.

Now specialised in production, post-production, communication, and design, they bring both technical expertise and a clear understanding of the realities in the field. Their hands-on, peer-to-peer training ensures that the knowledge gained through VFSF continues to be shared and strengthened across the region.

Trainer assistants will be selected from AHJ’s existing network of experienced professionals, based on the location of the training and the language of instruction. Our pool includes women experts in journalism, audio production, communication, and advocacy from across the MENA region and beyond, ensuring context-relevant and high-quality training for each cohort.
